Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarship and community service. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at the family farm near Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began his career in the field of business. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team throughout 1975. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
